Our Responses to Major Planning Applications

Land Off School Lane – latest appeal withdrawn by the developers

There have been two significant planning applications recently: 15/2274M and 15/5637M, each with the aim of putting up to 27 houses on the field in the centre of the village.

Marton Parish Council is opposed to this proposed development. 15/2274M was refused by the Cheshire East Northern Planning Committee in October 2015, and went to appeal; the appeal hearing was held in February 2016, and the case was referred to the Secretary of State for the final decision. The Secretary of State dismissed the appeal on 3 April 2017 and has refused to grant planning permission for these houses. A very similar planning application by HSL for 27 houses (15/5637M – later revised to 23 houses) was refused by Cheshire East on 16 August 2017. The developers appealed against this decision but have now withdrawn that appeal. Marton Parish Council have applied for costs.
